Proverbs 18:24

"When we consider the blessings of God-the gift that adds beauty and joy to our lives, that enable us to keep going through stretches of boredom and even suffering-frienship is very near the top."

-Donald W. McCullough

The Lord really knew what he was doing when he put me in Tri-Delta at Auburn. It intrigues me when I think about how everything happens for a reason. I am not at Auburn just to learn, make memories, and hopefully witness to people while I am here. I feel like God also put me here to make the best friends, and be a best friend. Anna Katherine, Schelin, Michelle, Rachel, Nicole, and Brooke have been the greatest friends with all the best qualities to me. I am soo thankful that the Lord put them into my life, and I can't imagine what my life would be like without them.

Thanks for being such great friends guys!
Every sigle one of them is going to do something great in life; they already are for that matter. I can't wait to see what other adventures the Lord has planned for us.

I love Auburn like my name is Pat Dye

Michelle and Rachel signed leases for their apartment for next year on Thursday! Of course, we had to capture the moment. There are so many "wow, we really are adults" moments happening!

On Friday night we had a little gathering to ring in the fall. We made pizzas, carved pumpkins, and got really excited about the game on Saturday. Since we don't actually have a kitchen(we used the one in the chapter room) we don't have any pans so we improvised with foil! It worked pretty well.

Oh, hey Carley and Nicole. Aren't y'all precious.

Carving pumpkins seemed like a really wonderful fall activity. And it was until we remembered how bad they smell and how gross the inside is. Oh, well! We still had a lot of fun with them!

Look at what we made!

What a precious way to ask someone to formal!

On Saturday we all went to the Auburn vs LSU game! It was incredible to say the least! It's so great to be an Auburn tiger! 8-0!

Also, I'm a little obsessed with the Auburn creed and I feel like after that game it's just perfect timing to share it on the blog...

I believe that this is a practical world and that I can count only on what I earn. Therefore, I believe in work, hard work.

I believe in education, which gives me the knowledge to work wisely and trains my mind and my hands to work skillfully.

I believe in honesty and truthfulness, without which I cannot win the respect and confidence of my fellow men.

I believe in a sound mind, in a sound body and a spirit that is not afraid, and in clean sports that develop these qualities.

I believe in obedience to law because it protects the rights of all.

I believe in the human touch, which cultivates sympathy with my fellow men and mutual helpfulness and brings happiness for all.

I believe in my Country, because it is a land of freedom and because it is my own home, and that I can best serve that country by "doing justly, loving mercy, and walking humbly with my God."

And because Auburn men and women believe in these things, I believe in Auburn and love it.
-George Petrie (1945)

Isn't that the most wonderful thing you've ever read? I just love Auburn and everything that it stands for.

Today, Brooke and I got in our workout carrying the Tridelt composite from Wire Road to the chapter room. The delivery man called me and informed me that he was in an 18 wheeler and proceeded to ask me where I thought he would be able to park a vehicle that big. Since I have never driven or parked an 18 wheeler, I wasn't sure what to tell him. Don't worry he just pulled up on the sidewalk-that's totally legal, right?

He then handed us the incredibly large and awkwardly shaped composite and told us he thought we could handle it from there-after all it's only 67 pounds. So, Brooke and I carried it all the way back. Good times. I'm so thankful that Brooke came to help me! There's no way I could have carried it by myself!

Shake It Like A Salt Shaker

Room 244 has been a happening place lately. We are all test free (for the most part) this week, so it has been much more relaxed. At least it has been relaxed all but from about 6:00 to 8:00 Monday night. Our most beautiful and poised roomie, Anna Katherine, absolutely rocked the Miss Greek Week pagaent. Look at the picture....I mean come on, is that not the prettiest little delta you have ever seen? Schelin, Michelle, and myself were probably more nervous than she was as we watched her glide on stage to answer her question. Of course, she had the BEST answer about pound cake and family. It was the greatest. The night ended with SUPER exciting news in room 244. It was the perfect ending to a great night.

Our room has been decorated for the Halloween holiday by Schelin, and looks absolutely amazing! Pictures will hopefully be following soon. I am quite looking forward to carving pumpkins and making pizzas on Friday in celebration of the fall. Yay!

BREAKING NEWS: Michelle picked a major! She will be majoring in Exercise Science once November 5th rolls around. Yay for her and physical therapy!

Schelin and myself went back to Copper Beech on Monday. Sadly, they couldn't show us a model home, so we luckily got to sit in the lobby for about 30 minutes while they tried to find a place for us to look at. Carley, Brooke Jackson, Schelin, and I enjoyed laughing at the hand sculptures, Buddah, and Elephant fingurines placed throughout the lobby. Oh, Copper Beech, we still love you. One positive aspect of the trip: 4 nice boys showed us their house...and bedrooms. haha. Just kidding, but seriously.

Fun fact of the day: Michelle likes to sing "Saltshaker" when she gets out of the shower because she is, in fact, both naked and soaking wet.
Oh and Happy Greek Week...GO BLUE and DELTA

loving you is easy

So, it has been a little while since we last posted but we have been super busy...mostly studying. Last week was rach's 20th birthday! And, of course we were studying while we celebrated!

Doesn't that look like so much fun? I believe we were studying for anatomy and phonetics at that point. Michelle, Anna Katherine, and Nicole were so sweet to come sing her happy birthday in the study room at midnight!

On friday we celebrated being finished with tests, papers, and interviews! We went to the most precious concert. Ever. It was in the middle of nowhere and it was cold so that means some of my favorite things: sweatshirts, blankets, snuggling, a beautiful night sky, a bonfire and hot chocolate. Actually, they had just run out of hot chocolate when I went to get some so that was a little upsetting but honestly, I was enjoying myself way too much to care a whole lot.

We got to listen to Ben Rector and Drew and Ellie Holcomb. They were so wonderful and sounded great live. Also, Drew and Ellie Holcomb might be one of the cutest couples we have ever seen. Anyway, if you get the chance to see them live, we definitely recommend it.

AND, tomorrow is the Miss Greek Week pageant! We can't wait to cheer on our sweet beauty queen, Anna Katherine! We know she's going to be amazing! We'll be sure to take pictures!

It came upon me wave on wave

Page one, Schelin and I saw Cam Newton today (no big deal) while we were in our NSSLHA meeting. To show you how much football players are idolized our entire meeting came to a halt as they watched him pass by our window (mind you the club is all girls). On another note, Brooke came back from the dentist this morning and even though it was three hours later she still could not feel her lips. It was very entertaining for the rest of us especially when she was asked to smile because only the left side was mobile.
In other news, Schelin has a new trademark- a glow stick necklace. She accumulated this contraption from her Younglife children and proceeded to drive all the way from Opelika with it on. Also, room 244 would like to make a request for some rain because Michelle got some new rainboots (in her size which is a feat in itself). Tomorrow is our first chapter with the newly intitiated deltas whoop whoop!!!!!

RIP James Foy (thanks for the old student center; home of Salsaritas)

A quick explanation behind the drawings. As mentioned earlier there is always an interesting picture/quote on there that describes something that has happened during the day. This is how Brooke imagined my future farm to look lol the rest of the pictures that we've not been posting will be put on here courtesy of our room photographer: Schelin

The Rest of the Story...

Sorry room 244 has really been slacking (but now I've finally figured out how to write a blog thanks to Schelin!). Well nothing new has been happening on the Tri Delta Hall much expect we had initiation today; we had to sit on our knees for four hours (and they say they don't haze) lolI'm totally kidding! But I'm so excited for our baby deltas!

Oh for a funny annecdote from me, as I was leaving my house my mom was walking over to my car to tell me by and my brother proceeds to lasso her. Oh, how I have missed my family!

Well as for dets on the roommates. Brooke got a new haircut (she's looking so fly now lol), Michelle and I decided to go home this weekend leaving poor Schelin by herself. But Schelin was happy because she got to keep the nursery at church all weekend (making that money).
In other news, Nicole came in parading her new formal dress and purchases that she made this weekend when she went home. She also has confessed her undying love of syrup (hahhahahahaha). Well enough procrastinating...Paul Harvey, GOOD DAY!

p.s.-for those of you who don't know who Paul Harvey is, shame on you

Teach me how to dougie

Studying in the study lounge on the Tridelta hall? No, thanks. 244 would rather dance. Thanks Christina Bumpus for teaching us some great new moves. Tonight not only did we learn Spanish, Psychology and Phonetics, but we also learned how to two step, dougie, heel-toe and crip walk.

Also, we found out for the first time that Anna Katherine's family has their own cow brand. The things we continue to learn about the great town of Demopolis, population: 7,000.

Brooke McVay, Brooke Jackson, and Schelin went apartment hunting yesterday. We tried to act like we knew what we were doing but probably failed. We tried to ask the right questions: How much are utilities?, Does the transit run regularly?, Do you provide wifi? etc. They proceeded to tell us about free tanning, the great parties they have, and free cookies. Obviously the only thing we really cared about was the cookies.
Looking at apartments made us feel like real adults. We didn't like that one bit.

Lobsters and Deltas

Our day started with Michelle flashing everyone at church. I know this sounds scandalous, but thats only because it was. A gust of wind was all it took to expose it all and make Michelle's face turn the shade of a lobster. On a completely different note, our den looks like Delta and Birthday threw up in it. We have deltas EVERYWHERE along with dolphins in prep for initiation and birthday streamers left over from the bday weekend (you can find the pictures of the wonderful streamers made by Anna Katherine on facebook courtesy of Schelin).
We want to give a shout out to Mrs. Wright for the delicious baked goods we have been enjoying just about every week. Mmmm...pumpkin muffins. They are a perfect way to kick off October!
Im sad because today we had a great plan to go outside and study in the beautiful weather, but then we got an e-mail of required crafts for Delta Week. Our day was spent inside cutting, gluing, and painting. Oh, and writing...lots of writing.
With mid-terms coming up, our room will start to look more like...I would say library, but it will probably start to look more like a dumpster. We can look forward to that. We'll just pray that we won't have to change our blog title. Although, I don't think you can take laughter out of 244.

Happy October!

Room 244.
We're pretty new to this whole blogging thing but we wanted a way to document this year. It all started one day at target. We found a great little dry erase board for just $1.50. So, obviously, we had to get it. Little did we know it would be one of the best investments we've made. It's hung right by our door and always has interesting pictures or notes written on it. For example...

This gives a brief description of our room.
Anna Katherine is our beauty queen. But really, she's our Miss Greek Week representative. Don't worry, you'll hear much more about that as it gets closer(the other roomies are just a little excited about it.)
Schelin is our motherly roomie. She's obsessed with "*gasp* Babiessss!" and honey mustard.
Brooke is in love with her cat, dasher, and she loves anything that has to do with kittens. She also wants to major in love.
Michelle is also a big fan of cats. She's currently working on saving the world by solving world hunger. Also, she can't reach the top shelf in our kitchen.

This is what inspired us to start a blog. We can't promise that it will be very interesting, informative, or consistent, but we think the things that happen in 244 are pretty dang funny.

The reason behind our title:
There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under heaven:
2 a time to be born and a time to die,  a time to plant and a time to uproot,
3 a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build,
4 a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance,
5 a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain,
6 a time to search and a time to give up,  a time to keep and a time to throw away,
7 a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak,
8 a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace.
Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

We literally laugh about 90% of the time we're together. The Lord has blessed us with this time together to laugh a lot and we couldn't be more thankful. We hope this blog brings joy and laughter to you, as well.

Oh, and by the way, Happy 20th Birthday Michelle!
